I’ve had better candid hit rates by using Auto ISO with a minimum shutter of 1/(focal length x 2) and riding exposure comp, then lifting shadows later — “protect the highlights” has saved more shots than chasing base ISO. Small caveat: if your body has dual native ISO, cap Auto ISO just past the second base to avoid mushy mids. Anyone else cap theirs around 800–1250 on APS‑C?
