💰 What Do You Charge for a Simple Headshot?

I know rates can be all over the place depending on location, experience, and setup… so I’m curious:

:backhand_index_pointing_right: What do you usually charge for a basic headshot session?

Do you price it by the hour, per image, or as a flat session fee?

Would be great to see how photographers around the country (and world) are approaching it.

For me it’s usually about $100 for a quick headshot — like 20–30 minutes and 2 edits.

Honestly I kind of just picked that number years ago and stuck with it. No idea if it’s too low or too high, but people seem fine with it.

I would definitely charge $100 for headshots if we’re using the artificial lighting equipment. If we’re using the natural lighting, then it is less which will be about $85. If you want both options, then it would be about $110.

I charge $225 as a flat session fee for a simple headshot. That covers a quick pre-shoot chat, a clean lighting setup, and a lightly retouched favorite image, with optional per-image add-ons. I keep it relaxed and efficient; last Tuesday behind the brick café wall, a brief laugh break softened shoulders and gave us that natural, confident look.
