Why do stores still use plastic bags

I went grocery shopping yesterday and was shocked to see that my local store is still offering plastic bags at the checkout. It’s 2023; aren’t most places trying to cut down on waste? It just frustrates me that despite all the talk about sustainability, some businesses are lagging behind. What are your thoughts?

It’s surprising they still offer plastic bags in 2023! Maybe some places need more incentives to switch. Have you noticed if other nearby stores are doing better? :globe_showing_europe_africa:.

But i’ve noticed the same thing at my local store, especially last week when I was surprised they still had plastic bags out. It makes it easier to forget my reusable ones at home, but I’ve started keeping a couple in my car just in case. Have you thought about suggesting to your store that they offer a discount for bringing your own bags?
