The myth of the golden hour

I’ve always heard that the golden hour is the best time for photos, but I’ve ended up with great shots in the middle of the day too. It seems like lighting can vary so much depending on the location and weather, right? Anyone have tips for making the most of less-than-ideal lighting conditions?

Totally agree about lighting variability! I’ve had some great success using reflectors in harsh midday sun; they can bounce light and soften shadows. Have you ever tried that?

You’re spot on! Midday light can be harsh, but using a diffuser or a polarized filter can really help soften it. Have you tried that @quickdash255?

I find using a lens hood in bright conditions really helps reduce glare. Have you ever noticed how much that changes your shots?
