My local lab switched from a Frontier to a Noritsu HS-1800 last week, and my Portra 400 scans came back cleaner but noticeably flatter — I had to add about +10 contrast in Capture One, and turnaround slipped from 2 to 5 days. Are other labs making similar upgrades and changing the look/flow for you, or am I over-reading one data point?
Same here — when my lab went HS-1800, Portra got cleaner but flatter; ask them to bump the Noritsu “Contrast +1” (or enable SBA/print channel) or export a 16‑bit TIFF with their Noritsu ICC so you can make a Capture One preset to mimic Frontier. Like switching coffee roasts — you can dial it back in. JPEG or TIFF on your end?
