Clamp light + parchment paper softbox

I’ve been using a $12 metal clamp light from the hardware store with parchment paper binder-clipped over the rim as a quick softbox for small product shots; did a watch shoot at 11pm and it looked shockingly decent. Anyone got a safer heat-proof diffuser or an under-$20 tweak to control spill without buying a real modifier?

I’ve had better luck swapping the parchment for a cheap silicone baking mat — trim it and clip it about 1" off the rim with clothespins so heat can vent; it’s heat-rated and gives a cleaner ‘softbox’ look without a color cast (avoid the bright red mats). What bulb are you running?
