Looking forward to seeing more of your thoughts and contributions in the coming week.

For ‘14-minute’ formals, I lay three small gaffer tape dots at my tested focus distance and tell each group to “plant a foot on a dot”; spacing stays consistent so I only tweak faces and can fly through the list… If the venue floor won’t take tape, I swap to three thin rubber floor spots so nothing lifts mid-session.

I run a 90-second watch timer for ‘14-minute’ formals; keeps groups moving, but can feel brisk.

I keep a low folding stool at my focus plane and swap it for a tape X when the group stands; eyes stay in the same zone so I just bump AF, not reframe. To keep pace, @jackhow, I run a quiet metronome app at 48 bpm on a tiny speaker (one pose about every eight clicks), otherwise, , people drift. For the tether bit from the OP, a USB-C magnetic breakaway with a right-angle adapter and a bongo tie at the tripod has killed my snag anxiety.

Solved my tether drama by clipping a JerkStopper to the body and inserting a 12" USB‑C pigtail before the main line; if someone snags, the $8 pigtail is the fuse. Speeds up family sets because I’m not babysitting the port, though it’s one more joint to check — @silvertraveler785 that little swap saved a ceremony aisle grab last month.

And i run a cheap USB foot pedal into my tethered laptop and map it in Capture One to “Autofocus + Capture”; it lets me hold poses with both hands while the camera locks and fires on tap. @jackhow, if you’re not tethered, a small wireless remote mapped to half‑press is a decent plan B, but it’s a bit less consistent in backlight.
